Superintendent's Message to Parents - November 2022

Posted on:

Hello everyone.

Well, the change from fall to winter weather sure happened in a hurry! It’s a good reminder for all of us about the importance of everyone having mittens, toques, boots and warm jackets as they make their way to and from school, as well as for being outside during the school day.

Remembrance Day and Fall Break

Schools across BRSD will be hosting Remembrance Day ceremonies early next week, then dismissing students for a 7-day break, which starts on Wednesday, November 9. Students and staff return on Wednesday, November 16.

Parent – Teacher Interviews

November also brings the opportunity to take part in parent-teacher interviews. Parents and teachers have such an important partnership in supporting children’s learning! Thank you for working together with your children’s teachers and schools in a positive way.

Report Cards

Report Cards are being distributed on November 18. Remember, some BRSD schools are piloting a ‘no-paper’ report card this year. If you need more information about which reporting process your children’s schools are using, please feel free to reach out to them directly.

School Calendar Survey

Thank you to the more than 2730 people –including over 1700 parents – who provided input to our 2023-2024 school calendar survey.

Your feedback will influence important decisions about when the school year starts, whether or not there will be a fall break and the scheduling of Professional Development and Early Dismissal Days.

We expect the calendar to be approved by the Board of Trustees within the next couple of months – watch for it!

Take care everyone. Have a great month.
