Pre-K and Kindergarten

Success Starts Early!

Pre-K and Kindergarten marks the start of an exciting adventure for your child.

In Battle River School Division, our Early Learning programs foster an enthusiasm for learning through a play based approach. Children are immersed in a literacy & numeracy rich environment that encourages social interaction and independence.

BRSD programs are open to all children and we are committed to embracing every student in a safe and welcoming environment. 

Pre-K registration for new students opens at participating schools on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025.

Battle River School Division offers four-year-old Pre-K programming in Camrose (École Sifton School, Jack Stuart School, Sparling School) and Tofield (C.W. Sears School).

Programs run four half-days per week (Mon. to Thurs.) with hours of operation varying from school to school. Busing is not available for Pre-K programs.

Children with birth dates between Jan. 1, 2021 and Dec. 31, 2021 may enroll in the 2025-2026 program.

Programming for three-year-old children who have met criteria for early intervention support may be available. Please see the Program Unit Funding information to find out more. Contact us for information regarding whether your child may qualify.

BRSD has licensed Pre-K programs.

Families are asked to complete a Pre-K registration form on our website, indicating school of choice.

Pre-Kindergarten registration does NOT guarantee placement in our programs. Once the initial registration is made, our Early Learning Team will follow up to gather additional information. Once a placement is offered, your child’s spot will be reserved for two weeks. To confirm enrolment, a $50 deposit is required, which will be applied toward the final month’s fee.

There are a variety of Kindergarten programs available in Battle River School Division with hours of operation varying from school to school. 

Note: If your child is currently enrolled in a BRSD Pre-K program and will be old enough for Kindergarten next school year, you will be receiving communication from your current school. We are elated to register your child in Kindergarten at your school of choice for the  2025-2026 school year.

We recognize that the Kindergarten and Pre-K schools that your children attend could be different.

When Can My Child Begin Kindergarten?

Children with birth dates between Jan. 1, 2020 and Dec. 31, 2020 may begin kindergarten in the 2025-2026 school year.
