About

BRSD and our Board of Trustees serves families of Pre-K to Grade 12 students within the City of Camrose, Camrose County, Beaver County and Flagstaff County.

With schools in 13 communities, BRSD supports 19 schools, two outreach schools and 10 colony schools. BRSD programs include French Immersion, Hockey and Soccer Academy, a welcoming International Student Program with Homestay opportunities, off-campus and dual credit opportunities, summer school and online learning.

Establishment of BRSD

The establishment of BRSD, officially named Battle River Regional Division #31, occurred on Jan. 1, 1995. This formation combined the school systems of Camrose School District #1315, County of Camrose No. 22, County of Beaver No. 9, and County of Flagstaff No. 29.

Prior to this regionalization, these systems operated as four individual jurisdictions, each with its own Board of Education.

A transition team with representatives from each ward was created in September 1994, acting as an interim Board from January to October 1995, when the next election would take place.

During fall and leading to January, staff members, including a Superintendent and Secretary-Treasurer, were recruited to undertake tasks associated with the regionalization process.
