Battle River School Division (BRSD) is thrilled to announce that over 30 division students recently attended Lakeland College’s annual open house event at Vermilion campus, as part of BRSD’s ongoing commitment to promote post-secondary education and dual credit programming. The excited students arrived at Lakeland College on Oct. 18, 2024, anticipating a day of learning about various future student opportunities.
In partnership with Lakeland College, BRSD has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore future dual credit opportunities for its students. This collaboration aims to expand educational pathways by allowing students to earn both high school and post-secondary credits, enhancing their learning experiences and career readiness.
This event provided a fantastic opportunity to showcase the diverse programs and facilities available at Lakeland College, offering a first-hand look at potential future collaborations between BRSD and the institution. Students mentioned some highlights to be power engineering, esthetics, welding, interior design technology and agriculture studies options. There is a buzz of excitement around the remarkable athletics programs!
Superintendent of Schools, Rhae-Ann Holoien, is enthusiastic about supporting this new partnership and future dual credit student opportunities.
“We are excited to offer our students this opportunity to explore the incredible possibilities at Lakeland College,” said Holoien. “This event represents another step forward in supporting our students' educational journeys and expanding their access to post-secondary options.”
BRSD is pleased to have received the invitation to visit Lakeland College and excited about this opportunity to collaborate with the institution. BRSD is committed to developing partnerships that benefit its students through valuable learning experiences, while continuing to build relationships throughout its communities.
