Superintendent's Message to Parents - April 2022
Posted on:Hello everyone.
As we celebrate the beginning of April, and return to school after Spring Break, we’re now on the ‘home stretch’ of this school year. I hope everyone is feeling refreshed and ready for the next three months of learning.
Parent-Teacher conferences have been taking place and report cards are scheduled to be distributed next week, so students, families and staff are in a good position to know what they need to focus on for the remainder of this year.
Bravo teams!
Late March was a pretty exciting time in Battle River, as we had six teams, from five different schools, participate in provincial basketball finals. I think that’s a record! The Ecole Camrose Composite High School Trojan Girls brought home a gold medal from 3A finals; while the Trojan Boys earned bronze. The Bawlf Wildcat Girls also brought home a bronze medal from the 1A finals, while the New Norway Spartan Girls were fourth at that event. The Forestburg Falcon Boys and CHSPS Lams also represented their schools and their division very well. We’re proud of all the players and very grateful to the coaches, volunteers and supporters who make it possible for students to participate.
Tell us what you think
Over the coming weeks you will receive links to three different surveys. We want to hear your thoughts on literacy, numeracy and equity – what’s going well for your children and what suggestions you have for other things our school division could be doing to support student success in these areas. Your input will help shape our school division’s plans for the future. Thanks for making the time to tell us what you think!
Focused forward
Our school division is looking ahead and working on details of next year’s budget – which includes making decisions about staffing and programming for the year to come. We start with the understanding that all students are individuals with unique skills and abilities, backgrounds and realities. Academically, socially and emotionally, the definition of success is different for each of them. From Pre-K to Grade 12, from CTS to Music, from core subjects to a diverse range of options, from courses in English to courses in French, from core subjects that serve everyone to uniquely-designed learning opportunities, from traditional in-school classes to alternative and outreach programs, we’re planning for it all. Across the Division, from schools in Ryley, Tofield, and Viking to Bashaw, Bawlf, Hay Lakes, New Norway and Round Hill; from Daysland, Forestburg, Killam, and Sedgewick to Camrose and the 10 Hutterite Colonies, we’re getting ready for next fall and planning for a great year ahead.
