Superintendent's Letter to Parents - April 2023
Posted on:Hello everyone! As we move into April, I am sure we are all enjoying the brighter days and are looking forward to the arrival of warmer weather. We are going from snow season to mud season, on our way to grass season!
Coming this Month
Schools and Division offices will be closed on Friday, April 7 and Monday, April 10 to mark Easter. School staff will have a Professional Development Day on Tuesday, April 11 and students will return on Wednesday, April 12.
Many schools have recently held Parent / Teacher Conferences, and others will be hosting events in the coming days. These are a great way to keep communication open between yourselves and your children’s teachers.
In addition, report cards will be sent home on April 28. For those who are piloting the “no printed report card” process, please complete that survey that is open, so we can hear your thoughts on how that is working out. And remember, report cards are just one way to be informed about your child’s progress. You can access updates through PowerSchool anytime, which is helpful in finding opportunities to celebrate your child’s success, as well as staying on top of any issues or concerns that may arise.
Retirement News
You may have seen the recent announcement that I am retiring from Battle River School Division at the end of this school year. During my many years working as a teacher, principal and division leader, I have really appreciated all that parents do to support their children and work with our schools. Whether it’s through keeping open communication or volunteering with hot lunch, coaching, field trip supervision or in classrooms, parents make a real difference!
It's been my honour and pleasure to work with you and to lead BRSD for the last nine years.
Have a great month!
Dr. Rita Marler
