Media Release: BRSD Opens Registration for 2025-26 School Year

Posted on:

Battle River School Division (BRSD) is excited to announce that registration for the 2025-26 school year is open as of February 3, 2025. Families with current BRSD students will receive automatic student enrolment verification forms in the summer. New families are now able to register on the BRSD website.

BRSD’s comprehensive Pre-Kindergarten programs are designed to foster growth and development in young children through six key focus areas: Early Intervention, Play-based Learning Environment, Language-Rich Learning Environment, Social-Emotional Learning, Physical Literacy, and Executive Functioning Skills. These foundational pillars allow each student the opportunity to thrive both academically and socially.

Pre-Kindergarten Program Highlights:

Early Intervention:
BRSD’s Pre-K programs are committed to identifying and supporting children with developmental delays or disabilities. Early intervention services include speech therapy, occupational therapy, behavioral support, and other specialized strategies. These services aim to enhance developmental outcomes, improve learning potential, and foster classroom success.

Play-based Learning Environment:
BRSD Pre-K programs offer hands-on, play-based learning opportunities, encouraging creativity, problem-solving and teamwork. Children develop critical thinking as well as social and motor skills, through dramatic play, building activities, sensory exploration, music, outdoor play and games.

Language-Rich Learning Environment:
BRSD Pre-K classrooms immerse children in language through meaningful conversations, storytelling, songs, and print-rich materials. These experiences foster vocabulary growth, communication skills, and early literacy development, building a strong foundation for academic success.

Social-Emotional Learning:
This BRSD learning component helps children to develop essential social-emotional skills such as empathy, self-regulation, and positive social interactions. Activities like emotion identification, role-playing, and problem-solving create a supportive environment where children learn to manage emotions, work in groups, and build healthy relationships.

Physical Literacy:
BRSD Pre-K promotes the development of fundamental movement skills through activities like obstacle courses, dancing, ball games, yoga and outdoor play. These activities build coordination and confidence, encouraging a love for physical activity and lifelong health and well-being.

Executive Functioning Skills:
BRSD Pre-K programs focus on developing executive functioning skills such as self-control, task management and problem-solving. Structured routines and engaging activities help children build these foundational skills for future academic and life success.

BRSD is looking forward to welcoming new faces for the 2025-26 school year. Families are encouraged to register new students early as planning is underway to begin a new year, aligning with BRSD’s vision: Every Student, Every Day, a Success
