Battle River School Division (BRSD) Breakfast Program received a generous boost from the Camrose Branch #57 Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary on February 11, 2025. Members, Donna Coombs and Linda Olson, visited the Division Office to present a $3,000 donation to Superintendent Rhae-Ann Holoien, and Assistant Superintendent - Education Services Stephen Hoyland.
The Breakfast Program plays a vital role in ensuring that students start their school day with the nutrition they need to focus and succeed in the classroom. Research consistently shows that students who have access to a healthy breakfast experience improved concentration, better academic performance, and enhanced overall well-being.
Superintendent Holoien emphasizes the importance of this BRSD program that helps to remove learning barriers by providing nutritious meals to students who may otherwise go without.
“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of the Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary,” said Holoien. “Their support makes a meaningful difference in the lives of our students by ensuring they have the nourishment they need to begin the day energized and ready to learn.”
Assistant Superintendent Hoyland echoed this sentiment. “The impact of this donation extends beyond the breakfast table. It contributes to students’ overall success, well-being, and sense of belonging,” said Hoyland. “We deeply appreciate the Ladies’ Auxiliary for their commitment to our schools and students.”
BRSD extends heartfelt thanks to Branch #57 Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary for generosity and support, and for recognizing the importance of student well-being. This generosity helps BRSD to provide the best support for students to start their day nourished and ready to learn.
